CSI is honored to be again represented at this year's IWC meeting by Dr. Carole Carlson, a member of the IWC's Scientific Committee and recognized as a world authority on whale watching. Carole holds positions at the Center for Coastal Studies and International Fund for Animal Welfare. She has been a dear friend to many in CSI and is one of our Scientific Advisors. Your support will enable CSI to get Carole to the IWC and the many ancillary meetings and tasks she must complete. She began that whirlwind in early October, with a trip to Washington followed immediately by her departure for Monaco and the Scientific Committee meeting prior to the full IWC meeting on October 17-24. Supporting CSI's IWC participation is the only request for funds that we make other than membership fees. Please, when you get our IWC appeal in the mail, consider how powerful your donation will be by enabling Carole to speak for all of us and the whales at the IWC. We are even more fortunate because CSI Board Member Kate O'Connell will represent the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society at the IWC. These two experienced and dedicated women make a formidable team to act for you on behalf of the whales!
