Fred Wenzel of Northeastern University will present a wonderful slide and audio show describing his research with a long-forgotten population of humpback whales. CSI members and friends are cordially invited to this free public meeting on Friday, November 21, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Gengras Planetarium at the Science Center of Connecticut, 950 Trout Brook Drive, West Hartford. (Please use the handicap entrance on the lower level by CONNY the sperm whale.)
Fred is a member of the Board of Directors of CSI and has spent four seasons in the Cape Verde Islands studying the wintering humpbacks. He is also the Research Administrator for WhaleNet, "Whales on the Web", an interdisciplinary program that connects scientists, teachers, and students via the Internet (http://whale.wheelock.edu/). In August Fred participated in the Marine Mammal Conservation Program lecture series on Nantucket hosted by Jean Rioux. We are very happy to have Fred as our guest speaker!
Special thanks to the staff of the Science Center of Connecticut for their generous assistance in coordinating this meeting and making their facilities available.
