Pan-tropical Spotted Dolphin

(Stenella attenuata)

The pan-tropical spotted dolphin is one of the species decimated by the tuna fisheries in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, motivating the Marine Mammal Protection Act that has since protected hundreds of thousands of cetaceans from harm by humans. Many things have been learned from the thousands that have died in nets. The current laws protecting dolphins from tuna fisheries are not as good as they could be.
